Job Description

Each position on a vessel is very important in getting the job done safely and efficiently.

The following is a general outline of the duties expected aboard Comar Marine vessels, but should not be considered complete and final.

 

First Captain

Responsibilities: The First Captain is required to safely operate the vessel in inshore waters and also in the Gulf of Mexico. The Captain is responsible for the safe vessel handling and managing the vessel’s crew and activities. The Captain is responsible for all aspects of the vessel including all transfers of fuel, water and cargo, maintaining vessel logs and records. The Captain is responsible for training and evaluation of shipboard personnel and to ensure all company and customer policies are followed as well as regulatory requirements in accordance with vessels documents and federal regulations.

Qualifications: Safety Minded. Must possess a valid USCG issued Master's License of at least 100 Gross Tons Near Coastal with a Radar Unlimited endorsement; an FCC Marine Operator's permit; and a valid Driver's License. Prior experience in the capacity of First Captain is preferred.

First/Second Captain

Second Captain

The Captain is responsible for all aspects of the vessel including all transfers of fuel, water and cargo, maintaining vessel logs and records as directed by the First Captain and to ensure all company and customer policies are followed as well as regulatory requirements in accordance with vessels documents and federal regulations.

Qualifications: Safety Minded. Must possess a valid USCG issued Master's License of at least 100 Gross Tons Near Coastal with a Radar Unlimited endorsement; FCC Marine Operator's permit; and a valid Driver's License.

Unlicensed Engineers

 

Responsibilities: Routine and emergency maintenance and repairs of equipment and machinery at the dock and underway. The Unlicensed Engineer will help in the safe and efficient loading, transfer and discharge of fuel, water and deck cargo.

Identify maintenance and repair items, maintain engineering supplies and spares. Test, monitor and troubleshoot equipment to make sure all systems are operating properly.

Qualifications: Safety Minded. Unlicensed Engineers must have prior engine room experience with Comar vessels.

Crew Boat Deckhands

 

Responsibilities: Keeping the vessel in a clean, and maintained fashion. The Deckhand should be familiar with all necessary deck functions including mooring and securing the vessel. He performs a variety of duties on-board the vessel.

Handles lines to moor vessel to wharves, ties up vessel to another vessel or rig. Chips, cleans, and paints rust spots from deck, superstructure, and sides of ship. Sweeps and mops the vessel interior and maintains the interior of vessel including sanitation. Stands watches and performs any other additional duties that may be required or assigned.

Qualifications: Safety Minded. No previous experience is required, but would be helpful
